I’m New

Welcome! We’re glad you’re here and want to help in any way we can.  Here are a few questions you may have, but if you have other questions, please contact us.

Who are we?

Calvary Chapel consists of a wide range of different people, from all ages and different backgrounds. Whoever you are you are assured a very warm welcome at Calvary Chapel of Silver City.

When should I arrive?

If it’s your first visit then it’s probably best to turn up around Sunday at either 8:20 or 10:20 am. There is plenty of free parking and for directions on how to get here please see the bottom of the Contact Us page. You’ll be greeted at the door by our welcoming team and we have ushers who will direct you to a seat if it is crowded or you need a hand.

What should I wear?

This is easy. Wear whatever you feel comfortable in. We are an informal church and accept people as they are. There is no need to dress up to try and be someone that you’re not. Whether you come as a suited businessman or a freaked-out punk that is fine with us.

What can I expect?

For some people going anywhere for the first time can be a bit of a nerve-racking experience. To help avoid any worries here’s a quick summary of what you can expect at Calvary Chapel. First of all we aren’t super-spiritual beings and we all had a ‘first day’ at church – you’ll find we are a friendly bunch and if you don’t understand something please simply ask.

We start our service at 10.30 am with about 30 minutes worshiping. Our worship time consists of singing modern songs (with guitars, keyboards and drums and the words to the songs on a large screen in front). Everyone participates in the worship but at 11 am the kids and youth go to their own groups; we also run a nursery for the little ones and have a cry room if you want to keep them with you.

We then have a few minutes of notices keeping us informed of future events, etc and then we have a teaching from the bible that is relevant and meaningful to our modern lives.

We finish our service around midday, and everyone is encouraged to stay and chat next door in our fellowship hall if desired. Our aim is that whether you are just looking into Christianity for the first time or have been a Christian for many years that you should be encouraged and inspired by the morning – we never preach at you, but we do offer you The bible for your consideration and teach you how to grow into a mature Christian.

We hope that everyone will draw closer to God.

What does your church believe?

We are a Christian church and believe that all can have a relationship with God. We believe this relationship with God is possible because of Jesus (God’s only son) who invites us to follow him. Here is more about our core beliefs.

We have friendly relationships with other local churches from both traditional and modern backgrounds. If you are interested in exploring the Christian faith then please come along on a Sunday or contact us to ask for a free information pack.

Is it just Sundays?

Absolutely not! God is with us all week long and we aim to lead lives pleasing to him. We’re not perfect and we do make mistakes, but we desire to make a positive difference in everything we do.

To further encourage us we have midweek kinships (a kinship is simply a meeting of maybe 10 people in someone’s house). Kinships are a great way to get to know others in the church and to be real with each other about everyday living.

What if I am disabled?

We aim to be an all-inclusive church. If you wish to discuss specific needs please contact the church office. Our premises are wheelchair accessible and we have reserved parking spaces for blue badge holders, which are near the entrance and provide space for transfer. There is also a fully wheelchair accessible toilet.

Feel free to call the church office at 575-388-1031 for more info.
